Teuri 天売島 4 おろろん号

After breakfast, I took a sightseeing boat to watch sea birds, Ororon-go. The tourists were eight. All of them sat on the left side of the boat, because the boat moved counterclockwise.

朝食後、民宿の女将さんが港まで送ってくれました。実は、前日天売島に着いてすぐに観光船に乗りたかったのですが、希望者は３人。４人以上集まらないと出港しないので、この日の朝一番の便に、女将さんが予約してくれました。

約８人の乗客はみんな、眺めの良い左側に座りました。


That was the small lighthouse I had seen from the hill in this early morning.
朝散歩で遠くに見えた小さい灯台。


Strong wind often howl in winter. There was a wrecked ship on the beach.
冬は風が強いそうです。難破船が横たわっていました。


Countless birds were flying.
鳥たちが飛び回っていました。


Birds were nesting on the precipitous cliff.
断崖が続きます。


Most of them were black-tailed gulls and Japanese cormorants.
断崖にはウミネコとウミウが数えきれないほどいました。子育ての季節です。


Many birds were floating on the sea. Most of tourists telephotographed birds.
水面にも鳥たちがいました。乗客は望遠レンズのカメラで鳥たちを撮っていました。
ケイマフリは足が赤いので地元では "あかあし" と呼ばれるそうです。黒い鳥でも足の色を見れば、ウミウと区別できるようになりました。


There were rhinoceros auklets. They had a thing like rhinoceros' horn on their beak at this time of the year.
ウトウたちもいました！　私のは普通のデジカメなので、このくらいしか写りませんでしたが、、、くちばしの上にサイのツノのようなものも見えました。（だから英語でrhinoceros auklet -サイ ウミスズメ- というのでしょう）このツノは、この季節にしかないそうです。


There was an observation hut on the cliff. I visited there in this afternoon.
断崖の上の方に観察小屋。午後、訪れました。


I could see seals which were gazing at our boat from the surface of the sea.
写真には撮れませんでしたが、ゴマフアザラシたちも丸い頭を波間に見え隠れさせながら、船の方を見ていました。かわいい！


There were decoys of guillemots. The number of guillemots has decreased rapidly. People placed decoys to take them back.
I remembered my Iceland trip.
オロロン鳥のデコイたち。四角いパネルのところの装置は、オロロン鳥を呼び戻すために、鳴き声を流していました。
アイスランドで見たオロロン鳥たちも、このように並んでいました。


Many guillemots used to live on the rock, Akaiwa. Only one tourist saw a guillemot on this tour.
島の端にある赤岩。以前はここにオロロン鳥がたくさん住んでいたそうです。今回は、一羽を乗客の一人が見たそうですが、他の人は見れませんでした。
