Iriomote in 2005 西表島 -ハイキング- 1

I visited Iriomotejima in Okinawa in 2005. I met an American, Joshua, he recommended me to begin blog because I like traveling. At the time I didn't know about blog, but I began this blog four months later.
I stayed in Iriomotejima for three days in December in 2005. I wanted to join a walking tour, but I needed one more person to apply. I said the situation at the YH, then Joshua said to join me.
The YH located on the hill. I could see the ocean from the YH, and I could see countless stars from the rooftop at night.

ブログを始めたきっかけとなったのは、2005年12月の西表島の旅で出会ったアメリカ人。その頃は、ブログという存在も知らなかった。そんなに旅が好きなら、ブログを始めたら良いのに、という彼の勧めと彼のブログに感動して、その後この「てくてくお散歩」ブログが始まった。
2005年12月下旬。４連休があったので、以前から訪れてみたかった西表島へ行くことにした。YHで２泊。YHにはいろいろなツアーのパンフレットがあり、その中からハイキングを申し込みたかったけど、どれも２名からのツアー。行きたい人！とYHで声をかけて手を挙げてくれたのがジョシュア。次の日、私たち２人とツアーガイドの３人で、亜熱帯の森をハイキング。
YHは小高い場所。YHからは海が見えるし、夜は屋上で星がたくさん見える。


On the following morning, a tour guide pick us up at the YH and took us to the forest.
次の朝、ツアーガイドがYHにお迎え。亜熱帯の森をお散歩しました。


There were ferns and tropical plants, so I couldn't believe that we were walking in Japanese forest.
日本なのに、外国のような植物がたくさんあって、不思議な感覚でした。


I felt like there were dinosaurs.
シダ類の植物などがあり、恐竜が出てきそうな雰囲気。


There was a fern, Otaniwatari, on the branch.
木の枝には「オオタニワタリ」という植物。レストランでは、新芽の天ぷらがありました。


I found a part of butterflies wing. The butterfly must be beautiful.
蝶の羽の一部。やはり、日本らしくない。飛んでいる姿を想像すると、、、きれいでしょうね。


Was it a fluff of a dandelion?
大きなタンポポの種？


It was not a dandelion.
こんな殻の中に入っていた種でした。


A vine was twined around a tree.
木に絡み付いている。


They were fighting quietly...
絞め殺そうとしているのでしょう。植物たちも、静かに闘っているのですね。


There were Kuwazuimo. I often see them at flower shops.
We kept walking.
食べられない芋という意味のクワズイモ。フラワーショップでは、何千円かするのでしょうね。お散歩は続きます。
