Yakushima -Yakushima land- ヤクシマランド3

I entered in 150 minutes course. A part of the course was the trail to the top of Tachu-dake.
いよいよ150分コースへ。ここからは、登山道。急な坂道もあります。途中まで、太忠岳への登山道を歩きます。


The mountains in Yakushima has been sacred places for local people from the ancient times, so they didn’t have the idea that they cut down trees. In the 17th century, people came from Kyushu persuaded local people to cut down trees. They started to do it until 1980’s movement of environmental preservation.
There was a river in Yakushima-land. Fallen trees were carried by the stream of the river. That’s why there were many big stumps in Yakushima-land.

屋久島の森は神が宿る神聖な場所として、人々の信仰のよって木々は守られてきました。17世紀頃、薩摩藩の島津氏により木が切られ始めたとか。
このヤクスギランドには川があり、切り出した木を川を利用して運び出せるため、多くの木々が伐採された。ここでは、大きな切り株がたくさん見られる。


Hige-choro (beard old man)
A 7-years-old girl named it in 2000. The moss on the trunk looked like beard.
この杉は、2000年に一般公募で小学1年生の女の子によって命名された。根元についた苔がひげのように見える。


I looked up the cedar. Leaves of the plants on the trunk turned into red. It was so nice.
ひげ長老を見上げると、こんな感じ。長老に根付いた木の葉が紅葉している。
