Mt. Maya 3 摩耶山

I walked down Mt. Maya.
摩耶山から、てくてく歩いて下山。



On the fallen tree,
倒れた大木の上には、、、


there were baby trees.
落ちた種が育っていました。


By the pathway,
登山道の脇には、、、


there was spring water.
湧き水です。


I haven't seen this sign before. It says there is a big cedar called Maya-no-Osugisan.
「摩耶の大杉さん」？　こんな標識、以前はありませんでした。


I went to see it.
少し歩くと、見えてきました。


It survived a terrible flood miraculously about 200 years ago, since then people treated it as a sacred tree. But unfortunately, It was damaged by a fire in 1976, getting weak and dead.
幹周り8m。約200年前の大水害では奇跡的に生き残り「大杉大明神」と人々からあがめられていましたが、昭和51年の旧摩耶天上寺の大火災の時に被災し、枯れてしまったとか。



It was still standing dignifiedly.
堂々と立っていて、存在感あります。


I sometimes took a rest and read a book under the sunshine. There was something on the bench.
日当りの良いベンチで、本を読んだりのんびりしながら下山。
何かが、、、


A butterfly was basking in the sun, too.
チョウも、ひなたぼっこ。
