Ginzan Kaido 銀の道 1

I enjoyed hiking on a 12km pathway from Ryugenji Mabu to Yunotsu. It took four hours to get Yunotsu, through a mountain pass and two small villages. The hiking path in the World Heritage was called Ginzan Kaido, silver mine road, because silver was carried through the path and loaded ships at Yunotsu in the 16th century.

銀山街道の「温泉津沖泊道」は、柵内の龍源寺間歩前から降露坂を経て、西田や清水の集落を抜け温泉津沖泊に続く12km。ここも世界遺産で、中国自然歩道の一部です。16世紀にはこの道を通って沖泊港から銀が船で積み出されたそうです。
龍源寺間歩前をまっすぐ進みます。


I entered the walking path covered with thick fallen leaves.
しばらくすると銀山街道の標識があり、そこから足元ふかふかのお散歩道になります。


The path was along a stream.
渓流沿いの道。ここをたくさんの人が歩いて銀を運んだのですね。


I sometimes passed the stream. I saw a kingfisher, which had blue back, as if jewel was flying.
時々、渓流を渡ります。このあたりで、キラキラしたブルーのものがまっすぐ飛んでいきました。そう、カワセミです。きれいな色をしているので、いつ見ても感動します。



I walked along the stream for a while, then a steep slope showed up. It was the mountain pass called Gorozaka.
しばらく渓流沿いの道が続いていましたが、急に上り坂になりました。降露坂という峠越えがあるのです。ひたすら登りです。


I kept on climbing up the slop, sometimes stopped and looked around. The leaves were getting yellow.
疲れたら立ち止まって、辺りの景色を楽しみます。


I almost got the top of the mountain. I could look down hills, villages and the sea.
もうすぐ峠。急に視界が開けました。目的地の温泉津は海沿いなので、これからずいぶん下るのですね。


There was a map on the top of the mountain. I climbed down from there. The slop was very steep and slippery!
峠にあった案内図。ここからの下りがとても急坂！苔のあるところもあって、とても滑りやすい。スニーカーだと、ずるずる滑るでしょう。


Then the path led in woods along a stream.
急な坂を降りると、木々の中の渓流沿いの道になります。


The sign said Yunotsu Onsen was 6.7km ahead.
時々見かける道標。温泉津温泉まで、あと6.7km。


I got to the first village on Ginzan Kaido, Nishida.
西田の集落が見えてきました。
