Taketomi -sea- 海

Taketomi was surrounded by beautiful sea.
This is Kondoi-beach. Many people must enjoy swimming here in summer.
There was Kaiji-beach which was famous for star-shaped sand over there. But people can’t swim at Kaiji-beach because of the rapid tide.
竹富島は珊瑚礁が隆起してできた島。海がとてもきれい。
ここは遠浅のビーチ、コンドイ浜。
この先のカイジ浜は星砂の浜。でもそこは潮の流れが速いので遊泳禁止だとか。


Here is the north of Kondoi-beach. There were tide pools.
コンドイ浜のずっと北の浜辺。引き潮の時はタイドプールに小さな生き物が取り残されるでしょう。


Nishi-sanbashi.(west pier) You can see the beautiful sunset on the sunny day. The time when they went to Iriomote-jima for agriculture, their ships left here.
西桟橋。ここの夕日は絶景だとか。前方に小浜島や西表島が見える。
以前、西表島で稲作を行っていた時は、ここから船がでていたとか。
映画“ニライカナイからの手紙”では、この桟橋の先に郵便ポストがありました。


Niran-stone. Yunkai festival is held in summer.
People believe that gods bring seeds and happiness on ship once a year from a mythic land, Niraikanai.
ニーラン神石。ここでは旧暦の八月八日に祭事ユーンカイ（世迎え）が行われます。
海の遥か彼方にあるニライカナイの国から一年に一度神々が船に種籾を積み島に訪れ、人々に五穀豊穣やすべての幸をもたらしてくれると信じられているそうです。
