To Grimsey グリムセイ島へ

Back to my Iceland trip. On June 14, I headed to Grimsey which is the northernmost island on the Arctic Circle. I had to change planes at Akureyri.

アイスランドの旅に戻ります。6月14日。首都のレイキャビクから国内線で、本土から北へ約40kmの北極圏内にあるグリムセイ島に向かいました。
レイキャビク空港では、インターネットで購入したe-ticketを見せることなく、名前を言っただけで搭乗券を渡してくれました。。。
まずは、北部の都市、アークレイリへ。メインルートのため、約100人乗れる大きめの飛行機。


There was still snow on mountains.
６月は、まだ雪がけっこう残っていました。



Akureyri is a lovely town. It has a university. But I didn't have a time to stay there in this trip.
アークレイリに到着。街まで1-2kmありそう。2005年の旅で訪れましたが、大学もある、かわいい街でした。


I flew to Grimsey. That aircraft reminded me of the flight for Heimaey Island in 2006.
アークレイリからグリムセイ島までは、約20人乗りの小さな飛行機。2006年にヘイマエイ島へ向かった時を思い出しました。

約30分でグリムセイ島。



I had a booking for a guesthouse next to the airport. It was about 1km away from the center of the island. But it was quiet and cozy.

emailで宿を予約していました。「ゲストハウスは空港の隣りにあります」とあったのですが、、、空港のそばには、その宿しかありませんでした。
飛行機から降りると、手荷物を降ろしていた空港職員の女性が、「ゲストハウスに泊まる人？No.1の部屋を使ってね～」彼女がオーナーでした。
部屋は小さいけれどきれいで、キッチンも使いやすい。島の中心地まで約1kmで、島唯一のショップとレストランの開店時間を教えてくれました。


I started walking around the guesthouse.

8494 km to Tokyo.
東京まで8494km。


I noticed that Grimsey was an ideal place for puffin lovers. It took a few minutes to puffins' nests from the airport.
お散歩を始めて、すぐ気付きました。ここは、パフィン大好き人にとって、素晴らしい場所！　空港から数分のところに、パフィンがたくさんいます！！
