Breiðdalvík

I was thinking of any day-tour in Höfn. I asked about day-tour at the information. She said “ You don’t have a car. Then there is only one day-tour for you.” It was a tour which was skiing and snowmobile on the glacier. I didn’t feel doing like that. I decided not to join a tour.
I wanted to see the view of fjord. I planed to go to a small village, Breiðdalvík by bus, enjoy the view from the bus, go back to Höfn.
In the morning, I met a bus driver who had driven from Reykjavík the day before. He asked “ Where are you going today?” I said “I’m going to visit Breiðdalvík. I’ll walk around, then I’ll go back to Höfn” He said “Breiðdalvík is a beautiful village. There is a nice café.”
I got in a bus. The bus ran the middle of sand field, between coast and the cliff. Then the place of these photos. There was a road the middle of the steep sand slope. There was no guardrail. The road wasn’t paved.

ホプンで２泊だったので、２日目は何かのツアーに参加しようと考えていた。インフォメーションで訪ねると、車がないのならこれしかないよと、氷河ツアーを勧めてくれた。氷河の上でスキーをしたり、スノーモービルに乗ったりするもの。なんとなく、気が進まなかったので、ツアーは諦めることにした。いろいろ考えた結果、フィヨルドも見てみたいと思い、バスに乗って北上しながら景色を楽しみ、小さな漁村でお散歩して、ホプンに戻ってくることにした。
朝の海沿いの散歩の時は晴れていたが、だんだん曇ってきた。バス停へ行くと、前日レイキャヴィークからのバスの運転手に会った。「今日はどこへ行くの？」と話しかけられ、「Breiðdalvíkへ行って、お散歩して、また戻ってくる」と言うと、「きれいな村だよ。良いカフェもあるしね」と教えてくれた。
バスに乗り込み、行き先を告げてクレジットカードで支払った。バスはホプンの町を出ると、また大自然の中を走った。滝がたくさんある。
やがて、海岸線の道へ出る。急斜面に道がへばりついている。舗装されてない道路も多く、ガードレールもない。



The weather was very changeable. We were lucky to see the wonderful view there. The driver stopped the bus, the passengers went out and took pictures.
天気はとても変わりやすく、ここで晴れて景色が見渡せたのは、とてもラッキーだった。ドライバーは停車してくれて、乗客は外に出て写真を撮ることができた。


We could see the rainbow.
天気が変わりやすいので、虹も時々見ることができた。


A small fishing village, Djúpivogur. The bus stopped there for 15 minutes.

The bus ran along the fjord. If there had been a bridge, it would have taken about 5 minutes to get to the opposite side. It took more than 30 minutes.
フィヨルドの入り江をバスは走る。対岸まで橋があれば5分足らずで着くのだろうけど、入り江をぐるっとまわると30分以上かかった


Breiðdalvík was a small fishing village. The population was about 180.
Breiðdalvík小さな漁村。人口は約180人。バスはここで15分休憩。


I walked around the village.
村をお散歩する。お散歩している観光客は私だけ。


There was a swimming pool. Most of places have heated swimming pools in Iceland.
小さな村にも、温水プールらしきものはあった。さすが、アイスランド。どこにも温水プール。
