Amami -the war 弾薬庫跡

Amami has beautiful places and it is peaceful now. But this place reminded us of the difficult time of the war.
Local people didn’t know about this place where bullets and bombs were stored during the war. There were some deep places in close bay because of fallen bombs by the enemy.
Now bats live there.

風景がきれいで、平和な奄美。でも、戦争の時代もあった。
地元の人たちもここに弾薬庫があることを知らされてなかったそうです。アメリカ軍は弾薬庫があることを知り、爆弾をこの辺りに落としたので、今でも近くの海では深くなっている部分が数カ所あるそうです。
今はコウモリのすみか。


We looked at the sea for the last time, then he took me to the pier. I had a great time with him.
最後にもう一度、海をながめて、おじさんはグラスボート乗り場近くまで送ってくれました。おじさんのおかげで充実の半日でした。
