Kushiro Marsh 釧路湿原 1

On November 23, I visited Kushiro Marsh. I got on a bus at Tsurui, got off at Onnenai Visiter Center.
I walked down the stairs to get to the marsh. There were birds singing in this woods.

ツルに会う旅の最終日、11月23日。鶴居村からバスで釧路へ。温根内ビジターセンターで途中下車して、釧路湿原をお散歩しました。
バス停から湿原へ降りて行きます。この辺りの林では、ゴジュウガラなどの小鳥たちが飛び回っていました。


I took a walk on the pathway. The temperature was below zero. There were no flowers and no people. But the sky was clear blue and it was peaceful quiet.

温根内ビジターセンター近くには木道があり、てくてくお散歩。歩いて来た木道を振り返ります。青い空がきれい。でも気温は零下で、花も咲いていないので、他に誰もいません。


There must be filled with wild life in spring and summer.
暖かい季節には、生き物がたくさん見られるのでしょう。


I noticed that something rushed in under the pathway. I stayed for a while to see it again, but it didn't appear. The creature looked like a mink. Minks had imported for their fur. Some of them escaped from the farm, became wild.

がさがさと音がして、何かが木道の下へ。音が聞こえ続けたので、しばらく待っていましたが、結局出て来なかった。一瞬見えた姿は、ミンクのようでした。ミンクは輸入され養殖されていたものが、逃げ出して野生化したそうです。


Japanese pampas grasses were shining.
ススキが陽を浴びると、光って美しい。


Kushiro Marsh looked like a savanna if there were animals eating grasses...
釧路湿原はサバンナのよう、と表現されていましたが、確かにそんな感じ。あと草食動物がいたら。。。



There was a picture of a flower by the pathway.
木道脇に。


These plants will bloom in summer. I'd like to come back here to see them.
6-7月には、この辺りではヒメシャクナゲがたくさん咲いているのでしょう。今は準備中。咲いている頃に、また戻って来たい。




I kept on walking.
湿原展望台まで、てくてくお散歩続けました。

Cranes 丹頂鶴 4

Tsurui Ito Tancho Sanctuary. These three cranes were a family.
鶴居・伊藤タンチョウサンクチュアリでは、親子３羽の家族をよく見かけました。
茶色っぽいのが、子ども。



They just landed.
この３羽は、着地したところ。


They were ready for taking off.
この３羽は、飛び立とうとしているところ。父、子、母の順番で並んでいるのでしょうか。
飛ぶのかなぁと見てると、「やっぱりやめた～」えさをついばめ始めることが多いのです。


They started running to fly.
突然、助走して飛び立ちました。



On my way to the hotel, I noticed a family of cranes flying in the sky. It was true that Trui was the village of cranes.
I soaked myself in onsen in the hotel. It mede my body and heart warm up.

夕方、ホテルへと歩いている時、声が聞こえたかと思うと上空を親子が飛んでいきました。
ホテルでは、「美人の湯」温泉でゆっくり。茶色っぽいぬるりとした湯で、ぽかぽかすべすべ。

Finally I arrived at Tsurui village, stayed at a hotel for two nights.
After breakfast, I took a walk in the village.

鶴居村のホテルで２泊。朝食後、てくてくお散歩。
霜をかぶった葉。陽が当たる場所から、融けていきます。


Tsurui Ito Tancho Sanctuary.
People came to watch cranes from different places. They were taking photos with big telephoto lens.

鶴居・伊藤タンチョウサンクチュアリ。
大きな望遠レンズをつけたカメラが並んでいました。
その中、小さなデジカメでツルたちを撮りました。









Cranes gathered around a crane sitting down. We worried about the crane, but it started walking, then flew away.

座り込んだツルの周りに、「どうしたのー？」と次々に集まっていました。
カメラマンたちも心配していましたが、何事もなく歩き、飛んでいきました。


I was watching cranes under the freezing temperature. I got back to the hotel to warm myself. Then I went to watch cranes again.

零下の気温の中、身体の芯まで冷えました。ホテルに戻って休憩したあと、午後に再びツルたちに会いに行きました。

I got in a bus at Kushiro, got off at Tsurumidai. I had watched cranes for 90 minutes until the next bus came.

釧路からバスに乗り、鶴見台で途中下車。次のバスが来るまでの約１時間半、ツルたちを眺めていました。その間、観光バスが３台ほどやってきました。



Feeding time.
14時半頃、えさの時間。ツルたちは、気にしてない様子。






The sun was sinking around 4 pm.
15時過ぎると日が傾き、16時近くなると薄暗くなってきました。日本は南北に長い！

Cranes 丹頂鶴 1

I visited Kushiro in Hokkaido last November to watch red-crowned cranes. I flew to Shinchitose airport, then took a train to Kushiro on November 20. The temperature was around five degrees below zero, the strong wind was blowing. I was freezing when I got to a hotel.
On the following morning, I visited Kushiro City Akan International Crane Center by bus.
This crane was bred in the center.

丹頂鶴を見たくなって、釧路を訪れたのは昨年の11月。鶴居村へ行くと、きっと鶴が居るだろうと思って、鶴居村に２泊しました。
新千歳空港から電車で釧路へ約３時間半。これは新大阪から東京へ新幹線で行くより時間がかかることに気づいたのは、帰り道。。。北海道は広い！
釧路に18時過ぎに着き、市内のホテルへ。駅を出ると零下の気温と強風で北海道の寒さを体感し、あと30mでホテルという時に突風で吹き飛ばされそうになりながら、なんとか到着。
次の日、時間があったので鶴居村に向かう前に、阿寒町の「丹頂の里」阿寒国際ツルセンターへ行ってみました。
開館まで15分あったのですが、「少しでも長い時間、ツルを見てもらいたいんです」と職員の人に声をかけられて、入館させてもらいました。
人工飼育された２羽のツルが池のある飼育場にいました。近くに寄ってきました。思っていたより、大きくてきれい。




Cranes were taller than I had thought.
大股で歩く姿は、人が着ぐるみを着ているよう。ツルの大きさをより実感します。


Many cranes fly to the field of the center.
自然に暮らしている丹頂鶴たちも観察できます。


Red-crowned cranes live in Kushiro marsh all the year. In winter they come to feeding places such as Kushiro City Akan International Crane Center and Tsurui village.

広大な釧路湿原で暮らしていた丹頂鶴たちは、えさ不足になる冬に集まってくるそうです。ツルたちは、家族で飛んで来たり、飛んで行ったり。
時間が早いためか、入場者は私一人。「オジロワシが来てるよ」と職員の人に教えてもらいましたが、私の双眼鏡でも小さく、カメラでは全然無理。




A flock of swans came here.
白鳥の一群がやってきました。


But a staff fired a blank to avoid their landing. He said that they tried to protect cranes from bird influenza.

しかし、鳥インフルエンザから丹頂鶴たちを守るために、白鳥たちをこの飛来地に入れないようにしているそうです。職員の人が空砲の大きな音を鳴らすと、白鳥はそのまま飛び去って行きました。ツルたちは、「何？なに？」と、辺りをキョロキョロ。


I took a bus, headed to Tsurui village to watch more cranes.
バスがやってくる時間ぎりぎりまで、ツルたちを眺めていました。
