Shinkawa Onsen 新川渓谷温泉郷

The following day, it was raining and cloudy. The mountains were covered with thick clouds. I knew there was a sightseeing bus to Ebino Kogen, but I didn’t take the bus because of the bad weather.
I found “Shinkawa Onsen” on my guidebook. It said that there were hot-spring inns along a stream and it was nice for walking. I decided to go there.
I got on a bus at Maruo, then got off at Shiohitashi Hatsudensho. I started walking on the road along a stream.
Soon after I started walking, I was on a bridge. I could see blue water of the stream, fresh green leaves, rocks carved by water, moss on the rocks and so on. They were so nice. I was lucky that I decided to walk there. I just hoped not to fall rain.

次の日は、天気予報のとおり朝から雨。山の方は雲と霧。霧島神宮や丸尾からえびの高原への観光バスがあるらしいのですが、こんな天気のため断念。次回の訪れを楽しみにしておこう。
ガイドブックに、新川渓谷沿いに温泉が点在すると書いてあったのがビビっときて、てくてく歩くことにした。
丸尾からバスに乗った。新川温泉経由国分行きのバスは本数が少なかったので、空港行きのバスに乗って、塩浸発電所で降り、渓流沿いの車道をてくてくお散歩。
なんだかいい雰囲気の塩浸温泉に行ってみたかったけど、月に２回の休館日。残念、また今度。
歩き出してすぐ、新川にかかる橋を渡った。緑の水、水の勢いで丸く削られた岩とそれを覆う苔、木々の若葉。ここを車で素通りなんてもったいない。歩くことにして良かった。雨粒が落ちてこないことを祈りつつ、わくわくしながらお散歩。

春を感じながら。


This tree was standing beside the road I was walking. The moment I saw the tree, I felt something strange, as if the tree sent out power.

道ばたの木の一本。出会った瞬間、なぜかすごい衝撃があった。すごくパワーを発している。そう感じた。
歩いていると、いろんなことを思い出したり、想像したり、感じたり、ひらめいたりする。脳が活性化するのでしょう。


There were open-air baths along the stream.
川岸に露天風呂。こんなところで、温泉って気持ちいいでしょうね。


I enjoyed walking in the nature.
I wanted to stop at Hinode Onsen. But it was closed because of family member’s funeral. I’ll visit there next time.

てくてく歩き続ける。
日の出温泉に寄ってみようと思っていたのですが、喪中のためお休みします、という看板が。。また次回に。


Anraku Onsen. There were many guesthouses, Minshuku, having onsen. I’ll visit a few Minshukus to take onsen next time.
安楽温泉が見えてきた。
安楽温泉は温泉民宿が立ち並んでいた。次回は２−３カ所、寄ってみよう。


I arrived Myoken Onsen. There were many Minshukus and hotels. I went to Orihashi Ryokan. They had indoor baths (300 yen) and outdoor baths (500 yen). I took outdoor onsen. Petals of cherry blossom were falling on the onsen as if snow was falling.

妙見温泉に到着。ここは新川渓谷温泉郷のなかで、一番大きい。気楽にと“きらく温泉”や、ひのき風呂が新しくなりましたという“妙見館”など、惹かれる温泉が多く、どこへ行こうか悩む。
結局、日本秘湯の会会員の宿“おりはし旅館”の温泉へ行った。内湯は300円、露天は500円と言われ、露天風呂へ。八重桜の花吹雪の中、一人でこのお風呂。気持ちいい〜！ちょっぴり熱めで、硫黄と鉄のにおいがしました。


I left Myoken Onsen, walked back on the road along the stream.
I visited a ryokan, Seseragi-so. They had two open-air baths. I chose one near the wisteria flower.

歩いてきた道を、また戻る。
朝、気になってた藤の花とそのそばにあった温泉旅館、せせらぎ荘。帰り道もやはり気になり、立ち寄ることにした。
「お一人ですと1000円です」と言われたので、２人以上では、もう少し安いみたい。家族風呂入浴中の札を渡され、「２カ所のうちどちらでもいいです」と。藤の花の近くの方にした。

温泉は階段を降り、川岸！


From the bath, I could see the wisteria flower, a waterfall, bubbles from the bottom of the stream, fish, birds and so on. I spent a confortable time.

藤の花や滝、川底からぽこぽこでてくる水泡、お魚たち、セキレイなどの鳥たち、水の流れを見ながら、ゆっくり湯につかる。これを全部ひとりじめなんて、贅沢！！


The owner of Seseragi-so told me that “Onsen-bus” was coming soon and it took me to the airport. I took the bus.
Just after I got on the bus, strong rain started falling! When I arrived at the airport, it changed thunderstorm. If I had kept walking, I must have been soaked all over.
I couldn’t visit Ebino Kogen on this trip. I’m sure I’ll visit there next time. I’m looking forward to the next trip.

せせらぎ荘のご主人から、空港までのバス“温泉バス”がもうすぐやって来ることを教えてもらい、乗ることにした。
それまで時々晴れ間も見られていたのに、バスに乗ってすぐ、大雨。空港に着いて間もなく、すっごい雷雨。この中を歩いていたら、、、と思うと、ふら〜っとする。雷は大の苦手！
今回の旅では、えびの高原へ行けなかったけど、“また今度”という場所が多く、再び訪れる時がとても楽しみです。
