Tachineputa 五所川原

In August, many towns in Aomori have its Summer Festival, Nebuta or Neputa Matsuri. I'd heard that Tachineputa in Goshogawara was huge and stunning floats. I flew to Aomori to see them in November, visited Tachineputa no Yakata near Goshogawara JR station.

８月の青森県では、各地でねぶた祭りが行われます。その中で、五所川原の立佞武多（たちねぷた）がすごいと聞いて、昨年の11月に青森へ飛びました。
JR五所川原駅から歩いて約５分。「立佞武多の館 」では、立佞武多が展示されています。


They were huge! They were bigger than I had expected. There was a slope around them from the fourth floor to the first floor.

その大きさにびっくり！　
展示室は４階分が吹き抜けになっていて、そこに２台展示されていました。（１台は修理中でお休み）周囲をらせん状にスロープがあり、まずエレベーターで４階へ昇り、ねぷたを眺めながらゆっくり１階へ歩きます。


They were about 22m high.
高さ約22m、重さ約17トン。毎年１台が作成され、１台が引退。３台が現役でお祭りにこの展示室から出陣するそうです。







The Tachineputa Matsuri stopped in the early 20th century because of big fire. But old photos and draw plans were found in 1993, the festival was revived in 1998.

1993年に設計図と写真が発見されたのを機に、1998年に80年ぶりに立佞武多が復活したそうです。

I'd like to come back Goshogawara in the summer festival season.
はるばる見に来る価値あり！でした。感動です。いつか機会があれば、夏祭りに訪れたいと強く思いました。

Hakodate 6 朝市

Hakodate Asaichi, morning fair. I had a breakfast at Donburi Yokocho.
函館朝市に、どんぶり横丁があります。
このどんぶりを見て、味わって、また函館に来よう～！と思いました。

Red brick warehouses. There were shops and restaurants in them.

I went Yachigashira Spa by tram. It had an open-air bath and a large bathtub.
市電に乗って谷地頭温泉へ。市営の温泉で、有馬温泉の金泉のような茶色い湯。
地元の人がたくさん来られていました。


I've been to Hakodate a few times by night train. JR Hakodate station was renovated in 2003.
今回、初めて飛行機で訪れましたが、これまでは寝台列車で来ました。久しぶりの函館駅の駅舎は、新しい船の形（？）に変わっていました。

Hakodate 5 お散歩

I took a stroll in Hakodate. Tram 1-day pass (600yen) was useful.
函館のまちを、てくてくお散歩。市電１日乗車券（600円)は便利でした。

There were many steep slopes in Hakodate.
函館は、坂が多い。


I went into Old Hakodate Ward public hall.
旧函館区公会堂。中に入ってみました。

Hakodate 4 熱帯植物園

Hakodate Tropical Botanical Garden has a greenhouse. I had not expected to see flowers of hibiscus in Hokkaido.
函館市営熱帯植物園の温室。外は０℃近くなので、しばらくレンズが曇っていました。北海道でハイビスカスが見れるなんて。

There was an onsen in front of Hakodate Tropical Botanical Garden. There were two bathtubs in the onsen. One had extremely hot water (48℃！), so I couldn't step into the bathtub. I soaked in the other bathtub add cold water. It was nice (it might be around 40℃), I relaxed.

この辺りは、湯の川温泉街です。熱帯植物園の前に温泉があったので、入ってみました。湯の花がたくさん付いた湯船が二つ。「今までにないくらい今日は熱いから、水を入れて冷ましたらいいよ」と、中で出会ったおばさまが湯の温度を下げてくれました。もうひとつの湯船は、とても熱くて入れない。入浴後、脱衣場に貼ってあったこの温泉の新聞記事に気付きました。なんと湯の温度は48℃でした。。。
