 On the following day, Mr. Takano took me to some places for bird watching. The first place was a park in the town.

根室の旅。２日目は、高野さんにバードウオッチングに連れて行ってもらいました。まずは、公園へ。

 Sparrow.

スズメ。

 Dusky Thrush.

ツグミ。

 Howfinch. "What dose it mean? I'm not good at English."

シメ。「何て書いてあるのかなぁ？」「英語、苦手なんだよなぁ」

 ”Ah, Ken's Inn! Takano san!"

「あぁ！　民宿たかのさんの車だ！」

 "Don't bother me! I'm eating."

「邪魔しないでね。食事中なの」

 ”You are still here!"

「まだいたの！」

Nemuro 春国岱 3

 When we came back to the car park, we saw birds gathering around our car. Then they flew away.

駐車場へ戻って来た時、車の近くに鳥たちがいました。

降り続く雪のため、カメラも双眼鏡も私達も、雪だるま状態。なんとか写真を撮ったら、鳥たちはどこかへ。

 We got in the car and warmed. Surprisingly, the birds came back around our car! We took photos of the birds, Rosy Finch, from the car.

車に戻ってしばらくすると、鳥たちが戻ってきました。ハギマシコ。

車をハイドがわりに、しばらく観察。

降る雪にピントが合うので、なかなか難しい。

The color of body is lovely!

Nemuro 春国岱 2

 We walked on the damp ground with rubber boots. That mossy scenery reminded me of Ochiishi Cape. But this forest is on a sandbank.

木道が終わり、遊歩道へ。

長靴を借りていたので、水があってもてくてくお散歩。

この苔むした風景。落石岬を思い出しました。でも、ここは砂州の上です。

We couldn't go forward because of fallen trees. Strong winds of a typhoon last year blew down many trees. 

遊歩道を進むと、倒れた木々でふさがれていました。

昨年の大型台風で、多くの大木が倒れたそうです。

ここは砂州の上の森。強い風ですぐ木々が倒されてしまいます。

After big trees fell down, many young trees grow up.

大木が倒されると、光が入ってきて、若木が育ちます。

栄養の少ない、北の砂の大地。倒れた木々が若木の栄養となるそうです。

We spent quiet and peaceful time for a while. Then we walked back on the same pathway.

いつまでも、この癒しの風景の中にいたい。

ゆっくりと時間を過ごしたあと、戻りました。

It began to snow. 

もうすぐ木道に戻ります。途中から雪が降り出して、積もっていきました。

This tree fell down last year. 

Look at its roots! Roots went shallow and wide.

この木も、昨年倒れたようです。砂州の上なので、根がこんなに浅くしか張れません。だから強風で倒れてしまいます。そして風景は毎年変わっていきます。

We went back to the car park.

森から草原へと、来た道を戻ります。少し歩くと、こんなに風景が変わる。

雪と風で寒い！

Nemuro 春国岱 1

 I flew to Nemuro in Hokkaido on December 12. I stayed at Ken's inn again. I asked the owner to guide me for two days.

The first place was Shunkunitai. This is the view of Shunkunitai from Nature Center. 

昨年の７月にお気に入りになった、根室へ飛んだのは、12月12日。また民宿たかのさんに２泊。ご主人の高野さんに、２日間ガイドをお願いしました。まず訪れたのは、春国岱。

ネイチャーセンターから春国岱を望みます。

 Birds gathered around a bird feeder.

ハシブトガラやゴジュウガラなど、野鳥がやってきました。

 I saw two squirrels running.

ネイチャーセンターの林では、エゾリスが走り回っていました。

 We headed to Shunkunitai. Glaucous-winged Gull.

春国岱への橋には、ワシカモメ。

 We started walking.

春国岱の入り口。ここから、てくてくお散歩。

 I could see the mountains of Shiretoko Peninsula.

この日、知床半島の山々が見えました。

 Shunkunitai is three different aged lined sandbanks. 

約1000年ごとに年代が違う、３つの砂州、第一砂丘、第二砂丘、第三砂丘とあり、それぞれ風景が違います。この10年間でも、風景が変わっているそうです。

 I noticed a White-tailed Eagle.

遠くにオジロワシ発見！

 I can't believe that there are many trees on the sandbank.

砂州の上に、こんなに木々が！

 I was excited in the magnificent nature! We kept on walking.

ここは、他では見られない、貴重な自然の場所。パワースポットだと感じました。
