Tiritiri Matangi Island in 2014 4

 I enjoyed beautiful weather and stunning panorama view. Then I headed to the Wharf.

景色を堪能したら早めに出発。船着き場までの途中に、鳥たちの水飲み場がいくつかあります。そこで待っていると、いろいろな鳥がやってきます。

 Saddleback (Tieke)

 Several people were talking and excited in front of a watering place. They said Kokako had been drinking water in front of them. It was very rare to see Kokako. 

ボランティアの人たちが、興奮しながら話をしています。ついさっきまで、Kokakoがみんなの目の前で水を飲んでいたとか。10回来て初めて見たとか、本当に会うのが難しい鳥だそうです。

 Kokako's face... So many branches and leaves!! 

まだなんとか見える範囲にいたのですが、枝と葉が多くてピントが合わない。特徴的なくちばしの下の青色が分かる。

 I sat on a bench and waited birds coming.

水飲み場の前にはベンチがあって、ゆっくり鳥たちを待ちます。

 Tui

 Brown Quail.

Brown Quailも歩いてきた。

 Look at its long tongue.

Bellbirdの舌は長いのね。

 I went back to the boat.

時間までに船に戻りましょう。

 We stayed at the island for five hours. I'd like to come back someday.

あっという間の５時間の滞在。もっと歩きたかった。。。

キーウィもこの島に住んでいるそうですが、夜行性なので会えませんでした。

 I noticed birds were flying.

船から鳥たちが見えた。大きくてカモメじゃなさそう。

They must be Gannet (Takapu). They reminded me of my Napier trip.

たぶん、カツオドリ！　ネイピアでの感動を思い出しました。
