Yonaguni uma 与那国馬

As I glanced at the sea and strolled along the coast, I noticed Yonaguni horses were coming from somewhere.
海を眺めていると、どこからか与那国馬がやってきていました。



Herons gathered around the horses.
与那国馬のまわりには、アマサギたちが集まっていました。


Just after I started riding, I met Yonaguni horese coming toward me. I stopped and watched them.
再び、スクーターで走っていると、与那国馬たちがやってきました。
スクーターを止めて見ていると、



They walked keeping a distance from me, went to their barn.
すぐそばにあった牧場へ戻っていきました。

Crystal clear 青い海

I went by scooter along the coast. I caught sight of blue water. I stopped and walked toward the cliff.
与那国島の南側。海岸線に沿った道を走る。気持ち良い！
ちらりと、青い海が見えた。スクーターを止めて、断崖近くまで歩くと、


The water was crystal clear.
透き通った青い海。







I often stopped and went to some points of the cliff. Here was the best place I could see amazing scenery.
何度もスクーターを止めて、何カ所からも海を眺めたけれど、ここが一番の絶景でした。
海の青さが実際のように写真に撮れないのは、ザンネン。



Some people enjoyed fishing around there.
この海岸線は、断崖が続きます。
この岩場では、釣りをしている人が何人かいました。


This rock seemed like a giant to me.
岩はいろんな形をしています。これは、大男に見えました。。。

Jinmen-iwa 人面岩

I noticed a pathway by the road. I took a walk in the woods.
レンタバイクで走っていると、お散歩道があることに気付いた。スクーターを止めて、てくてくお散歩。


The sign showed the pathway and Jinmen-iwa.
遊歩道の入り口に地図がありました。途中に展望台がありますが、通行止。人面岩というものがあるらしい。


I saw many creatures including lots of butterflies in the woods.
いろいろな生き物がいて、ワクワク。ここでも蝶が次から次へとやってきました。与那国島にはハブがいないので、安心。

Kuwazuimo. Some of them were taller than me.
クワズイモ。私の背より高いものもありました。


Had this tree divided the rock?
「石割桜」でなく、「石割、、」？


I noticed something by the path.
遊歩道の脇に、何かありました。もう少しで、通り過ぎるところでした。


It must be Jinmen-iwa, a face shaped rock.
標識などありませんでしたが、これが人面岩なのでしょう。
フクロウか宇宙人に見えますが。。。


I looked back the woods.
人面岩からは、歩いてきた林が眺められました。


The hill was covered with tropical trees.
南国の木で覆われています。


I headed to Higawa village by scooter, visited a building which had used as a clinic on TV drama.
It reminded me of a hot spring named Oura-onsen in Yakushima.

お散歩の後、スクーターで比川という集落へ。
そこには、TVドラマの撮影で使用された、Dr.コトー診療所がありました。ドラマを見ていれば、もっと感動したでしょうが。。。
私は屋久島の大浦温泉を思い出しました。その時、「Dr.コトー診療所のような温泉ですよ」と言われて理解できませんでしたが、与那国島に来てやっと分かりました。


There was a beautiful beach in front of the building.
Dr.コトー診療所の前には、美しいビーチがありました。

Tachigami-iwa 立神岩

I went around the island by rental scooter on the second day.
与那国島滞在２日目。レンタバイクで島めぐりしました。相棒のスクーター。


I went down to the beach.
東崎から眺めた、島の北側の海岸に降りてきました。


These rocks were interesting, might be made from coral.
海岸のごつごつ岩。元は珊瑚だったのかしら。面白いかたち。



The water was clear.
激しい波が次々とやってきます。


I headed to the north coast of the island.
東崎から眺める、島の南側の海岸。とても楽しみに行ってみました。


This pathway led to the wonderful rocky scenery.
この遊歩道の先には、サンニヌ台や軍艦岩という、不思議な岩があるのですが、


Unfortunately, it was closed due to the landslide.
通行止でした。。。　残念。。。


I went to another observation point, Tachigamiiwa Tenbodai. I noticed a small visitor in front of me.
少し先に、立神岩展望台がありました。景色を眺める前に小さな訪問者に気付きました。カラフルなカミキリムシ。


I could see the splendid scenery from the observation point.

I found the place I could see Tachigamiiwa at close range.
Tachigamiiwa was mysterious.
しばらく進むと、立神岩を近くで望める場所がありました。
青い海に神々しく立つ、立神岩。ここもまた、素敵です。


Tropical plants and lilies welcomed me.
ユリや南国の植物が、迎えてくれました。

Sonai 祖納集落

I stayed two nights at Sonai in Yonaguni island.
与那国島には集落は３カ所。そのうちの祖納に２泊しました。


The day I arrived was May 5, Children's Day. There were many Koinobori, carp streamers.
到着した日は５月５日。鯉のぼりがあちこちで泳いでいました。

町役場にも、たくさんの鯉のぼり。


There were traditional houses with brown roof.
昔の写真では、茶色の屋根瓦の伝統的な家屋がほとんどでしたが、現在は減っているようです。


The number of traditional houses is decreasing.
空き家もあるようです。


Fukugi trees protect houses from the wind.
フクギ並木。沖縄では、よく見かけます。


I noticed a sign on foot of stone wall.
石垣が続く中、見つけた。


Ishiganto. It's a stone for a good-luck charm.
石岩當。道の突き当たりに置く、魔除けの石だそうです。


They are traditional tombs.
祖納集落のそばにある、墓地。


There was the graveyard by the sea.
墓地は海が見える、素敵な場所にありました。
