Kankakei 寒霞渓 紅葉

Kankakei is famous for its autumn colors and I noticed that there were many maple trees along the path when I visited in April, so I came back in November. I stayed at a youth hostel by the sea. I took a bus from the bus stop in front of the YH to Kusakabe Honmachi, then I started walking toward Kankakei.

今年4月に訪れた際に遊歩道にモミジの木が多いことに気付き、紅葉の季節に戻ってきました。海沿いのユースホステルに1泊。ロープウエイ乗り場までのバスは８時台からなので、草壁本町まで始発のバスに乗って、そこから歩くことにしました。

I walked along a road.

寒霞渓を目指して道路を歩きます。

I saw many kinds of birds.

いろんな種類の鳥たちが、この辺りにも山頂あたりにもたくさんいました。

A walking pathway in the woods starts soon.

この先からは遊歩道になります。

I walked on this path along a stream. 

渓流沿いの道。水の流れる音や鳥の声が心地よい。

I arrived at the ropeway station.

草壁本町から１時間ちょっとで到着。

These maple trees have beautiful red leaves.

紅葉亭。とても紅葉が美しかったです。

ここからも登るつもりでしたが、ちょうどロープウエイ始発の時間だと気付いてロープウエイで登ることにしました。

I took a ropeway. I could see autumn colors and unique shaped rocks.

ロープウエイからは紅葉を上から眺められたり、奇岩を近くから眺められたり。

他にお客さんがいなかったので、めーいっぱい堪能しました。

ロープウエイ山頂駅からは、私が歩いてきた道や小豆島の半島、そして四国も見えます。

There are several observatories.

山頂の紅葉を楽しみながら、展望台巡り。

I saw a flock of goldcrests.

キクイタダキたちもいました。

I walked down on the path.

紅葉を近くに奇岩を楽しみながら表神懸を下山しました。

I’d like to walk on the different path next time.

次回は石門などがある裏神懸も歩いてみたいです。

2023年11月　香川県 小豆島

Echigo-Tsumari Art Field 越後妻有 十日町 2

On the third day, I rent an electric assisted bicycle at Matsudai station. 

３日目はまつだい駅にある観光案内所で電動自転車を借りて少し遠出。坂道もスイスイ。7月中旬のこの時期は田んぼが美しい。

Bijinbayashi is near Kyororo.

美人林はキョロロの近くにあります。四季それぞれの美しさがあるそうです。

I went back to Matsudai station, and then I went home.

電動自転車でまつだい駅に戻り、帰路につきました。

            2023年7月　新潟県 越後妻有

Echigo-Tsumari Art Field 越後妻有 ツアー

On the second day, I joined an official tour, Tombi-Kakku route. I enjoyed wonderful art works. 

The first destination is Tunnel of Light.

大地の芸術祭のエリアはとても広く、琵琶湖の大きさぐらいだとか。そこで2日目はオフィシャルツアーの一つ、とんびカックウコースというバスツアーに参加した。越後湯沢駅に集合したのは外国人も含めて20人。

最初の目的地は清津峡渓谷トンネル。景色を楽しむためのトンネルと現代アートのコラボレーションでとてもに人気がある場所。

The tour bus took us the second destination, For Lots of Lost Windows. I found lots of small frogs.

次は「たくさんの失われた窓のために」という作品。周囲は自然豊かで、足元には小さなアマガエルが数え切れないほどたくさんいた.

Then we visited Kiss & Goodbye. 

Kiss & Goodbye（土市駅）すぐにこの少年と犬のプリンちゃんのフアンになった。

This structure used be a community center.

今では使われなくなった建物を利用した会場も多い。

人々が農作業をしている姿が思い浮かぶ。

We had lunch at Ubusuna House.

昼食はうぶすなの家で、自然の恵みをいただきます。

After lunch, we enjoyed art works in this thatched-roof house.

食事の後は、この建物内に展示されている作品を観賞。

House of Light by James Turrell. If you stay at the house, you will know more about the house. 

光の館。いろいろな仕掛けがあって、ぜひ宿泊してみたい。

Museum of Picture Book Art

廃校になった校舎を利用した「絵本と木の実の美術館」

I felt like I was lost in a picture book. It was really fun!

絵本の世界に迷い込んだような気分。とても楽しい！

We left this amazing place, and then we headed to the last destination, Museum on Echigo-Tsumari. 

On this tour, I really enjoyed not only art works but also beautiful summer sceneries and communications with local people.

この後、十日町駅近くにある「越後妻有里山現代美術館MonET」を訪れた。

アート作品だけでなく、美しい田んぼの風景などの自然や地元の人たちとの交流も楽しめた、素晴らしいツアーで大満足でした。
