Tonami 砺波

I visited Shirakawa-go, the world heritage. Before I visited there, I stayed at Tonami one night. Tonami is famous for tulips.

五箇山、白川郷へ訪れたくて、砺波に前泊しました。
砺波はチューリップで有名。ずっと以前に訪れたチューリップフェアには、とても感動しました。


Tulip Park. There were countless tulips in this park from the end of April to the beginning of May.
チューリップ公園。４月下旬から５月上旬には、ここはチューリップであふれます。


Five waterwheels.
５連の水車がありました。


I went to Tulip-shikisaikan, where you can see tulips all the year.
チューリップ四季彩館を訪れました。ここでは、年中チューリップが咲いています。




Various kinds of tulips.
チューリップの種類は、とても多いです。


There was a museum of tulips.
球根とは、と解説するアトラクションです。併設されているミュージアムでは、チューリップについて、いろいろ学べます。


Autumn exhibition was held.
ちょうど、秋季特別企画展「野菜と果物達の大運動会」が開催されていました。バルーンで作られた野菜達。


Vegetables had various expressions.
収穫された野菜達も、いろんな表情をしていました。


This is a typical house in Tonami. There was a house in the middle of rice fields.
砺波平野に特徴的な家。田んぼの中に、大きな木に守られた家。


It looks like many small islands in the sea in spring, the rice planting season.
砺波平野はそんな家が多いので、田に水の張られた季節には、高台からの眺めは素敵だそうです。

Stromatolites ストロマトライト

Hamelin Pool Marine Nature Reserve. In 1954, a group of geologists discovered the stromatolites of Hamelin Pool. Stromatolites have produced oxygen since 3.5 billion years ago.

ハメリンプール海洋保護区。35億年前から生息し、地球に酸素を供給したといわれるストロマトライト。世界でもこれほど広範囲にストロマトライトが現存するところはないとか。



They looked like just rocks, but they are growing about 1 cm per 30 years.

ストロマトライトは、シアノバクテリアという微生物の間に石灰砂や細かい沈殿物が入り込んで堆積しながら成長する。
ただの岩にしか見えませんが、30年で１cm成長しているそうです。
ストロマトライトがなければ、私たちも存在していなかったと思うと不思議です。






I stared them if air bubbles come out from them. But I couldn't see bubbles.
酸素の泡が出ないかとじっと見ましたが、確認できませんでした。





There were red capped stromatolites.
茶色くなっているところがありました。


The red capped stromatolites stopped growing about 500 to 1000 years ago when the sea level fell.
このストロマトライトは海水が来なくなって、成長を止めてしまったものでした。

Shell Beach シェルビーチ

Our next destination was Shell Beach. There were lots of wild flowers.
シャークベイ世界遺産地区、次の停車地はシェルビーチ。広がる草原には、ワイルドフラワーがたくさん咲いていました。





We got off the bus, headed to Shell Beach.
バスから降りて、ビーチに向かいます。


We walked on the beach towards the sea.
真っ白なビーチ。波打ち際まで、歩きます。


The white beach and the blue ocean was incredibly beautiful.
白い浜に、青い海。素敵です！


The white beach consisted of tiny shells!
白い浜は、小さな貝殻でできています。100km以上続いているそうです。


A woman in our group scooped shells for my photo.
「写真を撮りなさい」と、貝殻をすくってくれました。



I wanted to stay on the beach for a few hours.....
ここで半日ほど、ゆっくりしたかった。。。。。

Eagle Bluff

We visited Eagle Bluff. There was a pathway on the cliff.
シャークベイ世界遺産地域には、見所がいくつかありました。そのひとつ、Eagle Bluff。崖っぷちに遊歩道があります。




Eagle Island


Eagle Island is an important nesting site for coastal birds. European people used to take guano(bird droppings) for farm and Aboriginal people used to collect eggs for food. But now the island is protected.

Eagle Islandは、海鳥の繁殖に重要な島。何千年もの間に積もった鳥のふんが肥料として高価だった頃、ヨーロッパの人々が採りに来たそうです。アボリジニの人々は海鳥の卵を摂りに来たそうです。でも、現在は保護されています。



These shrubs were leaning because of the winds from the sea.
遊歩道脇の草木は、海風で地面に這っているようでした。


Shark Bay World Heritage Area
この辺り一帯は世界遺産地域です。


I was surprised that there used to be land 18000 years ago.
１万８千年前は、この美しい海は陸地だったなんて、びっくりです。


The bus was waiting for us. We headed to Shell Beach.
バスの発車時間です。目前は大自然が広がっています。

Cruising クルージング

There were pelicans on the beach. It was comfortable to stroll on the beach.
モンキーマイア・ドルフィンリゾートのビーチには野生のペリカンたちもやってきます。朝のお散歩も気持ち良いし、ここに数日滞在できれば素敵でしょう。


I joined the cruising with people on the tour.
約１時間のクルージングに参加しました。乗客は同じツアーの人たちのうち約10人。


Three men helped to raise a sail.
出港してすぐ、帆を上げます。男性の若手３人、がんばります。

クルーがマストに登り。。。

Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort has some kinds of accommodation.
モンキーマイア・ドルフィンリゾートには、コテージから相部屋のYHまであります。


We felt cozy sea breeze.
海風が気持ち良い。日陰は少し寒かったのですが。



We were looking for dolphins.
イルカたちいないかしら〜。


Suddenly a dolphin came to us, and left soon.
突然、イルカがやってきて、すぐに去っていきました。



We came back to a pier.
港に戻ってきました。


Monkey Mia was a wonderful place. I wish to come back someday.
モンキーマイアは、とても素敵な場所でした。
何度も振り返りながら、ツアーのバスに向かいました。
