Tourists increased on Pont du Gard by the time.
ポン・デュ・ガールの美しい姿を眺めながら、遊歩道を歩きます。この時間には、観光客が増えていました。人々はごまのようにとても小さく見えます。


I hadn’t expected walking on the path among trees, so I was happy to walk there.
今回の旅では、こんなハイキングのような道を歩けるとは予想していなかったので、うれしくて足取り軽やか。


I walked down to the bank, went along the river.
川岸まで降りてきました。ここから眺めても、素晴らしい。


The reflection was beautiful.

There were lots of tourists from many countries.
さすが世界遺産。いろんな国の言葉が聞こえてきます。


I walked up the hill on the left side of the river.
左岸側から見たポン・デュ・ガール。


It was the left end of Pont du Gard.
左岸側のポン・デュ・ガールの端。


There was a stairs in the bridge, it seemed that people could walk in the bridge. But it was locked.
内部には階段があり、橋の中を人が通れるようです。通行止めでしたが。


There were fields of olives and grapes, nice place to take a walk.
橋の周辺には、オリーブやブドウ畑がありました。博物館を訪れた後、お散歩しました。


I could see Pont du Gard over the trees. I wanted to walk around more, but I had to leave to catch a bus for Avignon.
木々の向こうにポン・デュ・ガールが見えます。もっともっとお散歩したかったのですが、バスの時間が近づいてきたので、バス停へと向かいました。たった一つの水道橋でしたが、場所によっていろいろな表情を見せてくれるので、５時間あっても足りなかった。。。貴重な半日でした。

Pont du Gard ポン・デュ・ガール 2

I came to the foot of Pont du Gard.
ポン・デュ・ガールに近づくにつれて、大きさを実感します。


It was huge, 49m high, 275m long.
大きいー！！　高さ49m、長さ275mもあります。


Someone wrote “1926” on the stone. There were many graffiti, names and year.
落書きが多く、名前と日付が書かれていました。ここには1926年と書いてありましたが、2000年の歴史のあるこの水道橋にとっては、ついこの間ですね。


It was around 9am. It was quiet.
まだ朝早いので、世界遺産を独り占めです。


Pont du Gard was beautiful.
遠ざかって眺めます。きれいな三重橋です。


I walked up the pathway.
橋のたもとに戻り、遊歩道を登りました。


The high level of Pont du Gard showed up.
橋の最上層が近くに見えてきました。


I reached the top of Pont du Gard.
右岸側の橋の最上部です。危険防止のため、現在は金網が張られていました。ここを水が通っていたのですね。


I walked on the path behind the waterway.
水路は橋を渡ると、カーブしていました。水路の向こうには、木々の間に遊歩道。行ってみました。


There was an observation point. The view was splendid! I stayed there for a while, enjoyed the wonderful panorama.
Then I started walking again.
遊歩道を少し歩くと、見晴らしの良い場所がありました。ここからの景色が素晴らしい！　見とれて、しばらく眺めていました。
また時間があれば戻ってこようと思いつつ、またお散歩を続けました。

Pont du Gard ポン・デュ・ガール 1

Pont du Gard was an aqueduct, built about 2000 years ago. I went there from Avignon by bus. There were only two buses a day, so I had to leave Avignon early morning and stay around Pont du Gard for five hours. Before visiting Pont du Gard, I thought that five hours to look at one bridge was too long.
The bus ran through a pretty village and vineyards, it took forty minutes to get a bus stop closest to Pont du Gard.

今回の旅で、楽しみにしていた場所のひとつ。約2000年前のローマ時代に建設された大きな水路橋、ポン・デュ・ガール (ガール川の橋)。
アヴィニョンのインフォメーションでポン・デュ・ガールへのバスのことを尋ねると、7:40と12:05のバスがあるとのこと。。。本数少ない。。。朝のバスで出かけて、５時間滞在して、昼過ぎのバスで戻ることした。しかし、橋をひとつ見るだけに５時間!?　時間があまりすぎてしまうのではと、この時は思った。でもバスの便がないので、仕方がない。
早起きして、バスターミナルへ。薄暗くて、ちょっとおっかない。バスの運転手に行き先を言って、料金を払う。英語が通じないので、超カタコトでフランス語がんばる。バスは小さな村やぶどう畑を経由して、約40分でポン・デュ・ガール近くのバス停。


I arrived at the bus stop at 8:20, there were no people. I walked to Pont du Gard about 1km. I saw pretty flowers on my way.
朝早いので寒いし、周りに誰もいないし、心細い。ポン・デュ・ガールへと続く道を約１km歩く。道端には、かわいい花たち。


I thought there were white small flowers. I looked at them closer…
おや、ここにも白い花？


There were not flowers. There were snails.
カタツムリたちでした。あちこちの木や草に、無数のカタツムリがくっついていました。


I reached its car parking, there were no cars yet.
ポン・デュ・ガール近くの駐車場まで来ました。まだ一台も停まっていません。


There was a museum, a café and shops. And there were fields of grapevines and olive trees for tourists.
ポン・デュ・ガール周辺には博物館やカフェ、売店などがある。ブドウ畑やオリーブ畑など、昔の農地を再現した場所もあり、お散歩できます。


The information wasn’t open yet. But there were leaflets in front of the information, I got Japanese one, and walked towards Pont du Gard.
インフォメーションはまだ閉まっていましたが、入り口にパンフレットがあり、日本語のを頂きました。いよいよポン・デュ・ガールに向かいます。


Pont du Gard would be soon.

Orange オランジュ

I often choose the way to transfer, train or bus. Generally trains run faster than buses. Buses run through the center of towns. It takes about 15 minutes by train and about 60 minutes by bus between Avignon and Orange. I took a train to get to Orange. There were many old fountains in the town.

町から町への移動に、電車かバスかを選択する時が多い。一般的には電車は短時間だけど郊外を走る、バスは時間がかかるけどいくつもの町の中心地を通るので、町巡りが楽しめる。オランジュはアヴィニョンから電車で約15分、バスでは約１時間。今回は電車で訪れた。
オランジュ駅から中心地まで約1km。歴史が感じられる噴水や水場がたくさんありました。


I got a map at the information, and took a walk.
インフォメーションで地図をもらい、てくてく街歩き。


It was built in the sixteenth century.
16世紀の建物。


The Roman Theater, which was built 2000 years ago. I visited Orange to see this theater. It was much bigger than I had expected!
ローマ古代劇場。これを見たくて、オランジュを訪れたのですが、大きい！


I started to walk in the theater with an audio guide.
音声ガイド（日本語もありました）を聞きながら、見学しました。

約2000年前に建設された、劇場の舞台。民衆の関心を政治から背けるために建設されたとか。


Even now it was used as a theater.
現在も、演劇などで使われているのがすごい。


There were houses around the theater.
古代劇場周辺のオランジュの町並み。


It was so big that people looked like ants.
あまりに大きいので、舞台近くの人たちがアリのように小さく見えます。


There were the ruins of ancient Rome next to the theater.
古代劇場のとなりでは、ローマ神殿跡の発掘調査が行われていました。

Hotel Splendid フランスの旅 アヴィニョン〜

Let’s go back to France trip in autumn. Where was I? I just arrived at Avignon. Street trees were nice, seemed like a tunnel.
昨年9月から10月にかけてのフランスの旅の続編です。たしか、アヴィニョンに着いたところまで紹介しました。
アヴィニョンの街路樹。まるで、トンネルのようです。


There was a park and a church in front of a hotel I stayed two nights in Avignon.
ホテルの前にあった、公園と教会。


I chose this hotel, because it was easy to get trains and buses, close to Avignon station. There was a piece of paper next to the front door of this hotel, it said “Welcome to Avignon, Japanese visitors” in Japanese.

宿泊はほとんどYHで、4-8人部屋の相部屋でしたが、ここでの２泊だけ小さなホテルに泊まりました。玄関には「日本のみなさん、ようこそ」と日本語で書いてありました。私のように、ガイドブックを見て予約する人が多いのでしょう。
フロントでは、年配の男性がフランス語なまりの英語で “We have a problem.”と。ダブルブッキング？ここに泊まれないの？と不安になりながら話しを聞くと、「予約していたシャワーのみの部屋は、連泊者のためありません。１泊目は料金はそのままで、シャワーとトイレ付きの部屋にかわって欲しい。２泊目は、シャワーのみの部屋に移動。」というもので、ほっと一息。

This hotel was small, but tidy and cozy.
部屋はきれいで、駅から近く、安い。フロントのおじさまも、丁寧でやさしくて。再び訪れることがあれば、またここに泊まりたい。

Myoken onsen 妙見温泉

On the last day of my Kagoshima trip, I visited Myoken onsen which lay by a beautiful stream, Amori-gawa. I took a bus from JR Hayato station, headed to Myoken onsen. I was only passenger on the bus, I talked to the driver. We found out that we both liked birds.

鹿児島の旅、最終日は天降川沿いにある妙見温泉へ。JRで鹿児島から隼人駅へ行き、そこから温泉バスを利用することにした。温泉バスは、隼人駅から妙見温泉経由で鹿児島空港まで、乗り降り自由。温泉券（200円分）がついて、一日券が500円とお得。
隼人駅前の物産館で温泉バスのチケットを買うと、「バスが来るまで、ゆっくりして。ここに座って。お茶いれますね。」と、椅子をだしてくれた。バスが来るまで、隼人のお祭りの話などを楽しんだ。
バスの乗客は私一人。ツルが見たくて出水へ行ったことを話すと、運転手さんはバードウオッチングが好きらしく、話しが止まらない。あっと言う間に、妙見温泉に着いてしまいました。


I arrived at Myoken onsen just before noon. I went to a restaurant, Nonki-shokudo, for lunch before taking onsen. An elderly couple ran the restaurant. There were ten people waiting for dishes, and it took long time to cook for each dish, so I read a book and watched scenic outside until serving my lunch. I stayed at the cozy restaurant for two hours and had delicious dishes.

まず、昼食にしようと、旅館の方に教えてもらった“のんき食堂”へ行った。こじんまりした食堂内には、６人と４人の２組のお客さんたち。年配の夫婦２人でやっていて、メニューには、鮎、鯉、うなぎなどの料理もあった。「ねえさん、ちょっと待っててね。」とお茶を出されて、お座敷で本を読んだり、外の天降川を眺めたり。注文をとりに来られるまで１時間。料理が来るまでさらに30分。
料理は、待ったかいがありました。「鮎の甘露煮、あの大鍋で炊いたんよ。おいしいよ。」「鳥の唐揚げ、前のお客さんの注文を間違えて作ったから、これも食べて。」「これ、カライモっていうのよ。」と、注文したもの以外も出していただいて。。。全部おいしく頂きました。約２時間滞在した食堂。お勘定の時に「もっとゆっくりしてもいいよ。」と。思わず、あと１−２時間ここにいようかと思いましたが、温泉にも行きたいので、出発。「またおいでね。」と夫婦そろって、お見送りしていただいて、心ほかほか。


I took an outdoor bath, rotenburo, of Ishihara-so. I could see birds walking on rocks and flying above the stream. It reminded me of Shinkawa onsen last April.

身体もほかほかにするために、温泉へ。旅館の妙見石原荘の露天風呂からは、天降川を見下ろせました。セキレイたちが、岩の上を歩いていたり、カワガラスが川を潜ったり、飛んでいったり。紅葉もまだ残っていて、とても素敵。
４月に訪れた天降川沿いの温泉、せせらぎ荘 を思い出しました。
安楽温泉の鶴の湯は200円ですが、とてもいい湯。宮崎から来たというおばさまたちと会いました。


I took a walk along the stream for one hour, and took a bus for Kagoshima airport. I had great opportunities to meet local people on this trip.

渓流沿いをお散歩したあと、温泉バスで鹿児島空港へ。今回の旅では、たくさんの人たちとの出会いがあり、思い出がまた増えました。
